- Senior Clinical Research Financial Analyst (Revenue Cycle)
Description
The Multispecialty and Research Hospital (MSRH) is building a modern, high acuity clinical research enterprise integrated directly into hospital operations. We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst with deep expertise in clinical research finance to support the financial planning, pricing, billing, and revenue cycle functions for the clinical research enterprise at MSRH.
This role sits at the intersection of research strategy, hospital finance, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will not simply manage budgets. They will help design financial frameworks, perform financial analysis that inform leadership decisions, and help ensure that research is operationally executable, financially sound, and compliant.
This position is ideal for an advanced analyst who thrives in complex, evolving environments and is motivated by building systems rather than maintaining legacy processes.
What You Will Do
You will support and advance the financial infrastructure that supports clinical research at MSRH, with responsibilities that include:
Clinical Research Financial Management
Designing and maintaining institutional study pricing methodologies and costing clinical trials during the budget development and negotiation process.
Managing research fee schedules, study authorization agreement and associated policies to ensure consistency, transparency, and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
Performing detailed charge review and analysis to support compliant research billing and accurate allocation of research versus standard of care services.
Overseeing research services billing and collection activities, including invoice preparation, audit readiness, and reconciliation.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
Developing financial models, forecasts, and performance analyses that inform research investment decisions and program growth.
Produces accurate, timely, and reliable financial reports and analyses and interpretation for internal and stakeholders.
Translating complex financial data into clear, decision ready insights for research leadership, finance partners, and operational stakeholders.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Supporting annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis using historical trends and program specific metrics.
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
Leading process improvement and automation efforts to strengthen efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of research financial operations.
Contributing to special projects and institutional initiatives that advance MSRH’s research mission.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Health Administration, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience with clinical research billing practices and financial administration within an academic medical center, hospital-based research program, or similar environment.
Working knowledge of governmental and institutional regulations affecting research finance, including billing compliance and cost allocation principles.
Experience working with institutional financial systems and applying budgetary and financial policies in an academic medical center or healthcare research environment.
Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze, interpret, and model complex financial data.
Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related analytical tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
Preferred Experience:
Master’s degree in related field
Direct experience with clinical research, research fee schedules, and research study authorization processes.
Direct experience in hospital revenue cycle, or equivalent
Familiarity with clinical trial management systems, electronic health records, and research billing workflows.
Experience supporting new program development, pilot initiatives, or growth phase research enterprises.
