Description
Goodall-Witcher Healthcare is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. The CFO is responsible for the overall financial leadership of the organization, including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, revenue cycle oversight, reimbursement, debt management, and long-term financial sustainability.
This position directs all accounting and financial operations, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), healthcare regulations, and organizational policies. The CFO provides financial guidance to support strategic decision-making, operational excellence, and the hospital’s mission of delivering high-quality healthcare services to the communities we serve.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the organization’s financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting functions.
Overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls.
Managing cash flow, debt financing, investments, and financial risk management.
Monitoring revenue cycle performance and reimbursement processes to maximize financial outcomes.
Ensuring compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and other regulatory requirements.
Directing the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets.
Developing and maintaining financial policies, procedures, and internal control systems.
Providing financial analysis and recommendations to support organizational growth and strategic initiatives.
Leading, developing, and mentoring Business Office and Finance Department staff.
Building collaborative relationships with physicians, department leaders, board members, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
The CFO plays a critical role in maintaining the financial health and sustainability of the organization while supporting exceptional patient care.
Requirements
Education & Credentials
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
CPA designation preferred.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive financial leadership experience in healthcare finance.
Experience in a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) setting strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and operational analysis.
Extensive knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies, including Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement.
Experience with Medicare Cost Reports, Critical Access Hospital reimbursement, and rural healthcare finance required.
Experience managing audits, internal controls, cash management, and financial compliance programs.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong understanding of GAAP and healthcare financial regulations.

Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to partner effectively with executive leadership, medical staff, department leaders, and governing boards.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
