Company Overview

UC San Diego Health System is the only university-based medical facility in San Diego, providing leading-edge care in patient care, biomedical research, education, and community service. We have two university hospitals, a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, Shiley Eye Center, the Sulpizio Family Cardiovascular Center, and as well as other primary and specialty practices of UC San Diego Medical Group located throughout southern California. UCSD Medical Center, Hillcrest is also a designated Level I Trauma Center and has the only Burn Center in the county.

In 2012, UC San Diego Medical Center, located in Hillcrest, was named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals® by Thomson Reuters. Ranked among the country’s major teaching hospitals, the Medical Center was also one of twelve hospitals to receive the Everest Award. In 2011 UC San Diego Health System was bestowed Magnet® status by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). UC San Diego Health System was ranked first in San Diego in U.S. News & World Report’s first-ever “Best Hospitals” metro rankings in 2011. This prestigious ranking recognizes UC San Diego Health System as a leader in delivering groundbreaking health care to Southern California.
