Company Overview

At Memorial Healthcare we understand the power of compassion and are committed to being there for your family. That’s why we have a location right around the corner, with excellent providers you can trust, people who know you as neighbors because this is more than us helping patients, this is family. We are always here when it counts. Memorial Healthcare, commitment and compassion for life.

Memorial Healthcare is a 161-bed hospital and healthcare organization in Michigan serving the greater Shiawassee County area with additional locations in Genesee, Saginaw, Ingham, Bay, Clinton and Wayne Counties. Our services range from primary care for the whole family to specialty care in areas such as neurology, orthopedic and sports medicine, robotic surgery, urology and endocrinology.

Memorial operates over 25 satellite offices in the communities of Auburn, Chesaning, Corunna, Durand, Laingsburg, Okemos, Ovid-Elsie, Owosso, Perry and St. Johns. Many of these offices provide primary care, lab/x-ray and even physical therapy services. Each year we care for nearly 30,000 emergency patients, provide a wide range of ancillary services to over 200,000 outpatients and serve 3,800 inpatients. Memorial Healthcare physicians and staff work collaboratively with patients, community leaders and residents to continually create new and expanded services.

Company History

In 1919, a vision for a hospital in Shiawassee County began to develop to serve as a memorial in memory of Shiawassee County soldiers, sailors, marines, and nurses who served their country during World War I. With funds raised from property tax assessments, the Red Cross War Relief Fund, and a generous donation from the Bentley family, Memorial Hospital officially opened its doors on May 1, 1921.

Today, our care extends throughout seven counties in mid-Michigan with more than 300 medical staff providers and over 1,500 nursing, medical, and other professionals. Aided by the latest science and technology, in 2020, Memorial Healthcare cared for over 3,600 inpatients, nearly 240,000 outpatients, and treated 20, 331 Emergency Department patients.

Throughout the last century, the support of our community has been instrumental in ensuring Memorial Healthcare remained an independent, non-profit organization. As set forth by our founders in 1921, Memorial Healthcare continues to be governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees.

Throughout the next year – beginning May 1, 2021 and continuing for 365 days – we will honor the past, celebrate the present, and lead Memorial Healthcare into the future with a continued focus on the world-class, quality, compassionate care you’ve come to expect.
