CHRISTUS Health, based in Irving, Texas, is an international Catholic, faith-based, not-for-profit health system comprising almost 350 services and facilities, including more than 60 hospitals and long-term care facilities, 175 clinics and outpatient centers, and dozens of other health ministries and ventures.

Jointly sponsored by three religious congregations of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in Houston, The Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, and Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. The mission of CHRISTUS is to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ. CHRISTUS is inspired by its mission, vision and core values to deliver compassionate, high quality health care, improving the health of the communities it serves. Above all, CHRISTUS is committed to providing its customers and their family members with a truly unique healing experience, one that embodies its values and respects the dignity and worth of each person.

To support its health care ministry, CHRISTUS Health employs approximately 30,000 Associates and has more than 9,000 physicians on medical staffs throughout its system. Its dimension, strength, and depth of service place CHRISTUS among the top ten Catholic health systems in the United States. In addition to its facilities in the Southern and Western U.S., CHRISTUS has operations in Chile, Columbia and Mexico.

Northeast Texas Region
The CHRISTUS network across Northeast Texas aims to ensure that the ever-growing health care needs of East Texas are met through increased resources and innovative services. The region includes Trinity Mother Frances Health System (Tyler and surrounding areas), St. Michael Health System (Texarkana), and Good Shepherd Health System (Longview and Marshall). The region includes over 580 physicians and providers representing 36 specialties across 63 locations. Total revenue for the region was approximately $1.5 billion in 2016.

CHRISTUS’ Northeast Texas region has experienced significant growth, most recently with the acquisition of Good Shepherd Health System in early 2017, and before that via the merger with Trinity Mother Frances in the spring of 2016.
Trinity Mother Frances, which includes eight hospitals in Tyler and surrounding counties, was an early adopter of the integrated delivery model and dyad pairings of administrators with physicians; today, just under half of admissions there come through employed physicians. The system’s longstanding emphasis on physician leadership has created a culture of patient-centricity and a strong focus on quality, values which CHRISTUS shares and plans to emphasize throughout the growing system.
