VP/Director, Revenue Cycle

Reporting to the System CFO, the system Vice President of Revenue Cycle is responsible for the daily and strategic oversight, management, and direction of all functions within the revenue cycle including patient access, patient financial services, health information management, and revenue cycle systems. This position is a key contributor along with the rest of the system finance team and operations leadership to promote a stable and successful financial position for North Country Healthcare and its affiliates. Direct reports may include Patient Access Director, Patient Financial Services Director, Health Information Management Director, and Revenue Cycle Systems Director.

1. Recruit, retain, and develop appropriate leadership personnel for revenue cycle operations and assist those leaders in the recruitment, retention, development, and management of their teams.

2. Direct, evaluate, and improve the performance of revenue cycle leaders both professionally and personally to ensure excellence in employee engagement, operational outcomes, and patient experience.

3. Identify, monitor, and report on key performance indicators and metrics relating to revenue cycle performance including valid and appropriate benchmarking.

4. Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and controls that help ensure compliance in all aspects of revenue cycle with federal, state, and local laws as well as payer and governmental rules and regulations.

5. Collaborate and coordinate efforts with Information Systems to manage and optimize technology including the electronic health record and revenue cycle systems.

6. Prepare, review, and manage departmental operating and capital budgets in accordance with system goals and directives.

7. Serve as a key member of the payer contracting and relations team providing data, trends, and other pertinent information to aid in the maintenance of payer relationships and negotiation of contracts.

8. Participate actively in professional organizations and continuing education for personal and professional development and as an example to the rest of the revenue cycle team.

9. Serve as a resource and liaison between the revenue cycle and other leaders throughout the system.


1. Bachelor’s degree in business, health administration, finance, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.

2. Minimum of 5 years work experience in healthcare revenue cycle required with at least 3 years of leadership experience required. Additional experience preferred.

3. Knowledge of revenue cycle concepts, best practices, rules, and regulations including rural health programs required.

4. Exceptional computer skills required.

5. Knowledge of revenue cycle systems including Meditech Expanse preferred.
