Job Description
1. Strategic Planning & Implementation:
- Develop and lead the hospital’s strategic planning process, including the creation of multi-year business plans and performance benchmarks.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and prioritize strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with the hospital’s mission, vision, and financial goals.
- Utilize EPIC data and insights to inform strategic decisions related to patient outcomes, service lines, and operational performance.
- Analyze healthcare market trends, competitive landscapes, and regulatory changes to inform long-term strategies.
- Provide strategic support for capital projects, program expansions, and service line development.
2. Financial Analysis & Forecasting:
- Lead the preparation of financial models, forecasting, and budget variance analysis to support operational decision-making.
- Analyze key financial and operational metrics to track performance and identify areas for cost reduction, revenue enhancement, or efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with the finance team to produce monthly and quarterly financial reports that inform the hospital’s leadership team.
- Conduct scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to assess potential risks and opportunities for the hospital’s financial sustainability.
3. Data Management & Business Intelligence:
- Oversee the development and maintenance of data systems, ensuring the accuracy, security, and integrity of data.
- Utilize advanced analytics and business intelligence tools to create comprehensive reports and dashboards for hospital leadership.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance dashboards to monitor operational, financial, and clinical outcomes.
- Ensure that data insights are translated into actionable strategies that improve patient outcomes, operational efficiencies, and financial performance.
4. Database Development & Management:
- Oversee the development, maintenance, and integrity of databases, ensuring data is accurate, reliable, and secure.
- Utilize EPIC data along with SQL, MS Access, or similar tools to create custom databases that track operational performance and KPIs.
- Collaborate with IT and clinical teams to streamline data collection and reporting processes, improving the efficiency of data flows across the hospital.
- Ensure the alignment of data systems with the hospital's business intelligence strategy, enhancing decision-making capabilities.
5. Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement:
- Partner with clinical, administrative, and financial leaders to identify opportunities for process improvement and enhanced service delivery.
- Lead the implementation of lean management techniques, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies to optimize hospital operations.
- Drive performance improvement initiatives to reduce costs, improve patient care, and enhance employee productivity.
6. Leadership & Team Management:
- Manage and mentor a team of analysts and planners, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with department heads to ensure data analytics and planning initiatives are aligned with hospital-wide objectives.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on the use of data and analytics tools to enhance decision-making across the organization.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Hospital Administration, Social Sciences, Management, Health Care Administration or an approved related field in an accredited college or university; and,
2. Five years of progressively responsible planning, design and program development experience pertaining to the operation of a major segment or all of a hospital or health care facility including substantial exposure in meeting community health needs, health care planning, design and program implementation functions with at least two years of responsible level administrative experience coordination health care planning, design, development and public policy programs; or,
3. A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Science, Hospital Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Administrative Medicine in Public Health or approved related field; and,
4. Four years of progressively responsible experience as described in (2) with at least two years of responsible managerial and highly responsible level administrative experience coordinating health care planning, design, development or public policy programs; or,
5. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Department Preferences
Education:
- Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Public Health, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in healthcare analytics, strategic planning, or financial management, preferably within a hospital or healthcare system.
- 4+ years of experience working with EPIC (financial and clinical modules) to generate hospital statistical reports, analyze financial/clinical trends, and support decision-making.
- Proven experience in leading a team and managing large-scale projects.
- Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis within the healthcare sector.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and data analysis software (e.g., Excel, SAS, R).
- Proficiency with SQL for querying large datasets and developing custom reports
- Demonstrated expertise in building financial forecasts, clinical performance models, and business analytics
- Strong working knowledge of healthcare reimbursement models, cost analysis, and financial performance metrics
- Familiarity with healthcare regulatory and reimbursement environments, including Medicare/Medicaid, value-based care models, and hospital billing
Leadership Skills:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex data and strategic concepts to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
- High-level organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
